Fish Devils Lake in comfort with Woodland Resort's fish house package, the resort's most popular winter offering. With two fish houses: one for the morning and evening walleye bite, and a second for perch during the day. Houses are modern, pre-heated, and pre-drilled, with electric lights, propane furnaces, and comfortable seating — available in 2, 3, 4, and 6-person sizes, with cook stoves on request.
The resort's crew handles the legwork: they run transportation to and from the houses although we recommend people drive their own vehicles on our plowed ice trails , supply live and frozen dead bait for tip-ups, and keep houses positioned on the best bite in the area. It's not a guided trip, but the staff actively works the ice to keep anglers on fish. Fishing runs sunrise to sunset (no sleeper houses — Devils Lake has no night bite). Packages need a minimum of two people and scale up to groups of 100+, with special rates for 12 or more. Booking is done online or by phone: (701) 662-5996.

No ½ day for Expedition Houses
Fish where the others don't go. Woodland Resort's Expedition Package puts you in premium Ambush Slammer and Zack Shack houses, drilled in and ready to go at private lake accesses around Devils Lake and on smaller connected lakes — water the day-trip crowd never reaches. This is a semi-guided rental built for more self-sufficient anglers.
Each day, anglers get two ice houses: one set up for the morning and evening walleye bite, and a second dedicated to the midday perch bite — so you're positioned for the best action around the clock.
You still get everything the standard fish house package includes: pre-heated, pre-drilled houses with electric lights, propane furnaces, and comfortable seating, plus live and frozen dead bait for tip-ups and a crew keeping the houses on the best bite in the area. Lodging at the resort can be added in with your choice of accommodations.
We require customers to have a 4x4 vehicle for this package. No restroom facilities at any Expedition Package location. Recommended for experienced, self-sufficient anglers only; not recommended for first-time ice anglers or families with young children.

Our heated fish cleaning station features stainless steel countertops, freezers, several sinks, a hose, a pressure washer, and a waste dumping station.

On the ice you will need to bring appropriate clothing, food, rods, fishing equipment, and refreshments. We will drill additional holes outside if you plan on using tip-ups. Anglers are allowed 4 lines in North Dakota, but we plan on 2 holes per person in our fish houses.
This is not a guided fishing trip, but we do work hard at keeping our houses on the best fishing available in our area. Fishing hours are from sunrise to sunset. Sorry, but we do not do sleeper houses. Devils Lake does not have a night bite. Woodland Resort offers a variety of 2, 3, 4, and 6 person fish houses. Cook stoves are available upon request.

When is the best time to come ice fishing?

Can I drive to my house?
Yes, though sometimes ice/snow conditions may prevent you from driving yourself out.
Where can I get a fishing license?
You can get a fishing license online. If you are unable to get one prior to your visit the staff in the baitshop will assist you. Please note: The license fee must be paid with a credit or debit card.

What is a typical day like?
In the morning (around 7) the staff will begin taking fisherman to their houses. You will be meeting in the bait shop. After all fisherman are out the staff will begin checking up on you. They will move you upon request to your other house, or back to the resort. The ice crew will begin picking everyone up from their houses near dark.
